Hawaii
Well, our heroic Captain managed to get us into Honolulu today. The pilot boarded at 5.45am and we were berthed by 7am … in pouring pouring pouring rain! As I mentioned before, we’ve been so lucky with the weather, we couldn’t really complain.
As we came off the ocean we passed Waikiki beach with the waves crashing on the sand.

Luckily, we hadn’t booked any trips because each and every one of them was cancelled. Some people we’d met on the ship hopped into a taxi and went to Pearl Harbour on their own, only to be told when they got there that the entire harbour was closed because of the bad weather. The hop on, hop off buses were cancelled and the rain was lashing down.
We ended up getting the shuttle bus to the 300-shop mall that was on the opposite side to Waikiki beach. I can’t say that we’ve “been” to the beach … but we’ve seen it 😊
It always amazes me how close we can get into the town centre. One photo is from the TV which plays in our cabin showing the bridge-cam; the second is on our way back to the ship having had some “beer cheese” for tea tonight.

Beer cheese … it’s the future!

On our walk back to the ship we came across this water feature at the bottom and front of an apartment block … makes Mildane Flats look a bit week 🙂
We’re in Honolulu overnight so we’ll have a rock-free night. Not that we have any plans for tomorrow but we have to be back on board for 2.30pm for a four-day sail to San Francisco.
