And we’re off!
We have travelled on Royal Caribbean, Cunard, MSC and, Norwegian Cruise Lines but nothing beats P&O for organisational efficiency. The drop off for the car park was literally at the luggage bay door; there were so many staff waiting to greet you and get you to the right place, telling you what you needed; we’ve experienced P&O before and they are absolutely on the money for organisation!
We boarded at about 2.30pm and already have three of our four suitcases unpacked and settled in. We’ve met our cabin steward, Christopher, who set our expectations about cabin cleaning and maintenance … the poor man has left a 6 and 4 year old daughter to tend to our every need!
We’ve been spoilt with a bottle of Tattinger in our cabin, and a tidy sum in cruise credit, in by our son, Max, in recognition and celebration of our retirement – we could get used to Tattinger 🙂
The small touches were nice, the cruise is made up of half a dozen shorter ones and lucky ones get to do a full circle, each ‘lifer’ has a little commemoration flag to say we’ve done the whole nine yards.
There are plenty of ‘mature’ people on board with mobility issues, but I’d rather have them than hoards of kids.
Boarding started at 1pm, we got on board at 2.30pm, and a woman with three glasses of wine made sure she didn’t spill any going up to the top floor … we need to up our game!
